Kidde Smoke Alarms in Vancouver: Replacement, Beeping and Which Model
Kidde is the brand I install most. A Kidde smoke alarm lasts 10 years from the date on the back, and I replace or fix them across the Lower Mainland for a flat $99.99 service fee plus the alarm, from $69.99 installed.
Which Kidde alarm do I need?
- Hardwired smoke and CO combo, 30CUA10-VCA: $109.99 installed. Replaces a hardwired smoke alarm and adds CO protection.
- Sealed-battery smoke and CO combo, 30CUD10-CA: $89.99 installed. No wiring, 10-year sealed battery.
- Smoke only, 20SA10-CA hardwired or 20SD10-CA sealed-battery: $69.99 installed.
- Plug-in CO alarm, Nighthawk 900-0235: $49.99. Relay module SM120X: $29.99.
Every price is the installed price. The $99.99 service fee covers labour, travel, testing and cleanup, evenings and weekends included. See the full price list.
My Kidde is beeping. What now?
Look at the date on the back first. Under 10 years: it is usually a battery, dust, or a leftover alarm on the same circuit. Over 10 years, or a sealed unit that keeps chirping after you press the button: the alarm is done and gets replaced. I diagnose it on the spot. Replacing a Kidde on a hardwired system
The house wiring only powers the alarm. The sensor still wears out after 10 years, and the replacement has to match the brand on the interconnect so every alarm sounds together. I pull the old base, fit the matching Kidde, test the whole loop and take the old alarms away. 30-day workmanship warranty.
