These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of thesmokealarmdoctor.ca and the smoke alarm installation, replacement, repair, and inspection services provided by The Smoke Alarm Doctor ("we," "us," or "our") in Vancouver and the Lower Mainland, BC. By booking a service or using our website, you agree to these Terms.
We provide smoke and carbon monoxide alarm installation, replacement, emergency repair, safety inspections, battery replacement, and related compliance services for residential, landlord, and strata properties, as described on our website.
Bookings can be made online through our Jobber booking form or by phone. We aim to provide same-day or next-morning service where available; exact appointment windows are confirmed at the time of booking and may be affected by demand, weather, or circumstances beyond our control.
Pricing is flat-fee as listed on our website at the time of booking: a $99.99 service fee covers labour, travel, testing, and cleanup, plus the cost of any units, batteries, or add-ons selected. Prices are in Canadian dollars and do not include applicable taxes unless stated. Payment is due upon completion of service and is processed through Jobber. We reserve the right to update pricing at any time; the price confirmed at booking is the price honoured for that appointment.
You may reschedule or cancel an appointment by contacting us at 604-401-3347 or info@thesmokealarmdoctor.ca. We ask for reasonable advance notice where possible so we can offer the appointment slot to another customer.
Installations and replacements include a 30-day satisfaction warranty covering our workmanship. Manufacturer warranties on Kidde and other alarm units are separate and governed by the manufacturer's own terms. The warranty does not cover damage from misuse, tampering, unrelated electrical issues, or normal battery/unit end-of-life beyond the manufacturer's rated lifespan.
Where a written compliance report is included with a service (e.g., for landlords, strata councils, or property sales), it reflects the condition of the property's smoke and CO alarms at the time of the visit. It is the customer's responsibility to maintain compliance following any changes to the property after our visit.
To the extent permitted by law, The Smoke Alarm Doctor's liability for any claim arising from our services is limited to the amount paid for the specific service giving rise to the claim. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be excluded under British Columbia law, including liability for gross negligence.
Content on this website, including text, images, and the "The Smoke Alarm Doctor" name and logo, is our property or used with permission and may not be copied or reproduced without consent. You agree to use this website only for lawful purposes.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of British Columbia and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein.
We may update these Terms from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of our services after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
